Top 3 Ice Makers
More and more people are beginning to understand the cost and time savings they can enjoy if they buy an ice maker. Most people have small ice makers in their freezers, with a one or two pound capacity. These are fine for filling the occasional glass or two with ice, but when it comes to providing ice enough to keep a party going or chill drinks for a dinner, it’s absolutely insufficient. Larger capacity ice makers are required for full versatility, and that is what we’re looking at today: The best full-on ice makers on the market.
The AI-100BK Portable Ice Maker is, pound for pound, one of the best deals on the market. It’s portable – and by portable, we mean, super portable, small enough to be placed on your tabletop should you want it there – and capable of producing up to 28lbs of ice in a day, making it one of the higher-capacity machines out there, as well. It’s durable, sleek, and the black coloring ensure it will match any bar, kitchen, or truck (should you take it out to tailgates). All in all, this is a customer favorite for a reason: If you’re on the lookout for a portable ice making machine, this is it.

The EdgeStar Titanium Portable Ice Maker is another great option, comparable to the NewAir AI-100BK. It’s a little on the heavier side, and produces a little less – 20lbs per day instead of 28lbs – but it’s a great machine if you’re more concerned with always having ice around and not so much with always being able to scoop out 30lbs to provide for a dinner party. The EdgeStar is a quiet machine that is very, very energy efficient, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in a quiet, efficient, medium capacity portable ice maker.

The Sunpentown IM-150US UnderCounter ice generator is a powerful machine that attaches to your water supply right under the counter. This means it’s obviously less portable than the other, portable ice makers we’ve listed here, but it’s just as efficient. It produces still less ice – 12lbs – but again, for personal use, this is more than enough. Undercounter machines are particularly quiet, and produce at great speed and with great electrical efficiency. This makes the IM-150US a favorite of families that want to have ice available all the time, but don’t want to drive to the store or listen to a portable ice maker scream and shout all throughout dinner. Definitely consider this one if you’re interested in an undercounter machine instead of a portable one.

All three of these machines are wonderful, but the Sunpentown UnderCounter machine is decidedly different from the other two, which are portable units. If you want a quieter, more consistent flow of ice production, the Sunpentown is probably your best bet. If you’re interested in portable machines, however, take a look at the EdgeStar and NewAir machines instead.
